Code: 036050 Skins for Djembe and Shamanic Drums
Deer hide is among the most appreciated materials used in drum making. Its delicate energy and firm structure bring depth, purity, and a natural spiritual dimension to the sound.
Diameter 81-82 cm.
Medium thickness (0.7 – 0.8 mm) creates a balanced tone - strong enough to carry the rhythm, yet sensitive to gentler strikes and vibrations. A shaved surface of the hide ensures a clean look and easier tensioning.
This hide is ideal not only for shamanic drums, where it underlines the ceremonial and meditative character of the sound, but also for other types of frame or traditional drums, to which it adds its natural, vibrant voice.
Deer hide brings into the drum a connection with nature, the gentleness of the forest and the strength of the animal, which is a symbol of sensitivity and endurance. It is suitable for anyone seeking an instrument not only for playing, but also for journeying into inner silence and connecting with oneself.
Care:
Natural hide is a living material that responds to humidity and weather changes. In dry conditions it may tighten more and the sound becomes clearer, in humidity it softens and gains a deeper tone. We recommend protecting the drum from excessive moisture and storing it in a dry, ventilated place to preserve its beauty and longevity.
Tip for players:
If during humid weather the drum seems too loose, you can gently dry it out - briefly hold it near a fire, lay it in the sun or heat it by a heat source. The sound will quickly return to its strength and clarity. However, be careful not to overheat the hide.
