Product description

Leather Strips for Shaman Drum – 21 m

These leather strips, made from African Sahel goat from Mali, are ideal for weaving and tensioning shamanic drums, frame drums, and ritual drums.

It is a sturdy yet flexible material that beautifully tightens when dampened and creates a strong and stable tension after drying.

The Sahel goat from Mali is known for its high resilience, long lifespan, and significant elasticity, which makes these strips also used for professional shamanic drums and frame drums.

Compared to ordinary skins, they are less prone to cracking and better withstand changes in humidity and temperature.

Width: approx  7–10 mm (hand-cut, varying widths on one strip, the variety gives the drum authenticity of handcraft)

Leather thickness: approx  0.6–1.5mm

Color: light brown to dark brown. There may occasionally be fine fur.

Usage Tip

Before weaving, dampen the strips in water for 2-3 hours. They will be soft, pliable, and tightly shrink after drying.
