Vic Firth – The story of a brand born out of passion for music The story of the Vic Firth brand began in 1963. Its founder was American percussionist Vic Firth, who served as the principal timpanist of the prestigious Boston Symphony Orchestra. Since he could not find sticks on the market that would fully meet his requirements, he decided to create his own. What started as a personal project of a professional musician gradually grew into one of the most famous brands of drumsticks in the world. From the beginning, emphasis was placed on the quality of wood, precision processing, balance and consistency of individual pairs. Today, the Vic Firth brand offers a wide range of sticks for beginners and professional musicians. In addition to the premium American Classic series, it also has in its portfolio a more affordable Nova series, which brings practical sticks for everyday playing. How does Nova differ from Vic Firth's American Classic series? Nova represents a more economical product line of Vic Firth. The production also uses hickory wood, which does not meet all the selection criteria of premium American Classic models, but is still suitable for the production of functional drumsticks. This allows Vic Firth to offer more affordable sticks that are especially suitable for regular practice, rehearsals and casual playing. The American Classic series remains a choice for drummers who require stricter material selection and higher consistency of individual pairs. If you are looking for robust sticks for everyday use and do not want to unnecessarily strain your budget with every broken pair, Nova 5B is a practical alternative.
