Size 5A It is one of the most popular categories of drumsticks. It offers a good compromise between comfortable grip, speed, and striking power. Combined with a nylon tip, the GW5AN model is suitable for drummers who prefer versatile sticks with a more pronounced cymbal sound. Nylon tip – clear articulation on ride and hi-hat The characteristic feature of the sticks Goodwood GW5AN is nylon tip, which affects the sound when in contact with cymbals. Compared to a wooden tip, nylon generally provides a brighter, sharper, and more distinct attack. This difference is especially noticeable when playing on a ride cymbal, where it helps to accentuate individual strokes and rhythmic patterns. A nylon tip can also be an advantage when playing the hi-hat, where the drummer needs precise and clearly defined articulation. The resulting sound depends on the cymbal used, the dynamics, and the player's technique. American Hickory – strong and flexible wood for drumsticks Chopsticks Goodwood American Hickory 5A are made of American hickory, which is one of the most commonly used woods for making drumsticks. Hickory is popular for its combination of strength, flexibility, and ability to absorb some of the vibrations generated when striking drums and cymbals. Compared to maple wood, it generally has a higher density and provides a firmer feel when playing at the same dimensions. It is suitable for everyday use as well as for more demanding rhythmic exercises. Size 5A – the ideal balance between power and control Size category 5A represents one of the most versatile options when choosing drumsticks. Compared to the slimmer 7A models, 5A drumsticks generally offer a firmer grip and a larger amount of wood. In contrast to the more robust 5B models, they are usually lighter and allow for comfortable control during faster playing. The 5A drumstick is suitable for rhythmic accompaniment, precise accents, tom fills, as well as softer strokes on the snare drum. That’s why it is often used both in drum lessons and by professional players.
