American hickory – durable wood with natural flexibility Chopsticks Goodwood GW5AW are made of American hickory, which is one of the most popular materials used for making drumsticks. Hickory is a hard and flexible wood that can absorb some of the vibrations produced when striking drums and cymbals. Its properties provide a solid feel while playing and good durability with regular use. Compared to maple wood, American hickory generally has a higher density and is heavier at the same dimensions. It is therefore suitable for drummers who prefer a firmer stroke and the traditional feel of wooden drumsticks. Size 5A – a universal profile for various music styles Size category 5A is among the most commonly used types of drumsticks. It offers a practical compromise between comfortable grip, speed, and striking power. Compared to the slimmer 7A models, 5A drumsticks generally offer a firmer grip and a larger amount of wood. In contrast to the more robust 5B sticks, they are usually lighter and allow for comfortable handling during faster rhythmic passages. The 5A stick is suitable for basic rhythmic accompaniment, precise accents, ghost notes, tom fills, as well as regular practice of drumming technique. Wooden tip – natural sound of drums and cymbals Model Goodwood American Hickory 5A GW5AW is equipped with with a wooden tip, which provides a classic sound character when playing acoustic percussion instruments. Compared to a nylon tip, a wooden tip generally produces a more natural and less sharp attack when playing cymbals.
