What material is the handpan made of?

At this price range, you'll typically find only handpans made of nitrided steel, which have a shorter resonance than the stainless steel used in our handpan.

We didn't want to save money at the "wrong" place and compromise on sound quality. Additionally, the steel thickness is 1.2 mm.

How is our handpan made?

Firstly, two mechanically pre-shaped wok-like half-shells are firmly joined. Then the tonal fields are hammered into the material with experienced tools in precise craftsmanship. Once the "rough structure" is in place, individual tones are tuned. To ensure the hand pan is safely protected, there's a protective ring of sturdy rubber around it with a decorative jute rope.

Who is the Authentic Handpan intended for?

We recommend the Authentic Handpan for beginners. Here you get an easily playable musical instrument in scale or tuning that is ideal for beginners with an excellent price-performance ratio. 

The D minor tuning is the most popular handpan tuning and it's not just attractive for handpan novices, but also for those who like to play intuitively and don't want to struggle with a certain sequence of notes or dissonant tones. You can enjoy the long reverberation in a relaxed and meditative way.

And those who like to take their hand pan for a sit-in at the park or at the campfire, may not want to carry an instrument worth several thousand EUR. The Authentic Handpan is ideally suited for this purpose because it not only sounds really good but is also robustly built and rust-free.

Handling and care of the handpan

Even though a padded bag is included in the delivery, as with other musical instruments, we recommend that you handle the handpan very carefully. Additionally, it won't hurt if you clean the surface every now and then with a soft cloth or treat it gently with some cleaning agent that you can find in our offer. The rubber ring will appreciate occasional spraying with rubber care (e.g., silicone oil).
